Growth Hormone Peptides

  • What are Growth Hormone Peptides?

Growth hormone (GH) peptides are small chains of amino acids that stimulate the body to produce and release more of its own natural human growth hormone (HGH) from the pituitary gland. Unlike synthetic HGH injections, which directly introduce the hormone and can inhibit the body's natural production, peptides work with the body's systems, generally offering a safer alternative with fewer side effects.

  • Common Types of GH Peptides

CJC-1295: Has been shown to increase lean muscle mass, reduce body fat, and improve physical performance and sleep regulation.

Tesamorelin: A growth hormone-releasing peptide that specifically targets and helps reduce accumulation of abdominal fat. It can also help enhance body composition, insulin sensitivity, and cardiovascular health.

Ipamorelin: This peptide stimulates GH secretion from the pituitary gland and helps promote muscle growth and fat loss. It is considered one of the safest GH-releasing peptides, as it often has minimal side effects.

Sermorelin: A synthetic version of the naturally occurring growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). It is often used for long-term use and helps promote gradual, steady increases in HGH levels, improving sleep quality, muscle maintenance, and fat loss. Sermorelin is FDA-approved to treat growth hormone deficiency in children. This is the most used and studied peptide of this group.

  • Combo Therapy

Realize there are a few combinations of the above such as CJC-1295/ipamorelin or tesamorelin/ipamorelin that are turning out to be superior in effectiveness and to minimize side effects. I and the rest of the peptide community are favoring these combo’s over mono therapy.

  • Uses & Benefits

GH peptide therapy is primarily used to treat symptoms associated with growth hormone deficiency, which can include fatigue, loss of muscle mass, weight gain, and cognitive decline.

    Key benefits include:

Enhanced muscle growth and recovery: By stimulating the production of HGH and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), peptides help increase muscle protein synthesis and expedite recovery after exercise.

Fat loss: Peptides can boost metabolism and aid in burning fat, especially abdominal fat.

Improved sleep quality: GHRP therapy can lead to deeper, more restorative sleep.

Anti-aging effects: Potential benefits include improved skin elasticity, increased bone density, enhanced energy levels, and better mental clarity.

  • Safety & Regulation

While GH peptides offer a potentially safer approach than synthetic HGH, they are not always FDA-approved for every use. Proper dosing and medical supervision are vital to ensure safety and effectiveness. I always love going the extra step of tracking blood work along the way to ensure these levels are staying in the safe and predictable range.

Skin & Beauty Peptides

  • SNAP-8 Peptides

SNAP-8 (Acetyl Octapeptide-3) is a popular anti-aging peptide used in skincare, known as a "Botox-in-a-jar" ingredient because it works topically to relax facial muscles, reducing the appearance of expression lines, crow's feet, and forehead wrinkles by targeting the same wrinkle-forming protein complex as Botox but non-invasively, offering a safer alternative to injections.  It comes as and additive to the wolverine CU for a impressive 5 peptide stack.

  • Melanotan

Melanotan is a synthetic peptide that mimics the natural alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) and is associated with several effects due to its interaction with melanocortin receptors throughout the body.

The reported effects and benefits associated with Melanotan include:

Skin Tanning and UV Protection: The primary "benefit" for which it is used is stimulating melanin production, resulting in a darker, longer-lasting tan with less need for UV exposure.

Enhanced Libido and Sexual Function: Melanotan II, in particular, can boost sexual desire and improve erectile function in men (spontaneous erections are a known side effect), and increase sexual arousal in women.

Appetite Suppression and Weight Management: Some users report a decrease in appetite and food cravings, which can contribute to weight loss and improved metabolic efficiency.

Other Potential Effects: Research has explored other potential effects, including immune system modulation and anti-inflammatory properties.

  • Biotin

Biotin is most effective in injections and they assist in the metabolism of fatty acids, carbohydrates, and protein.  Its major benefit is strengthening hair and nails. Biotin plays a major role in the natural hair manufacturing process—it is essential to not only grow new hair, but it's also crucial in improving the overall health of your hair.  I have it in IM injections or more effectively with your IV infusions.  It’s a step up from your at home oral supplement that annoyingly messes up thyroid lab monitoring.

  • Vitamin B12 Injections

Vitamin B12 injections are highly effective for treating a deficiency, offering benefits like increased energy, improved mood, better brain function (memory/focus), enhanced metabolism, and healthier skin/hair/nails, by boosting red blood cell production and supporting nerve health.  Available with an office intramuscular injection (which most insurances cover!) and always given as part of the IV infusions.    I have 3 different forms of B12 injections in the office, methylcobalamin, hydroxycobalamin, and the traditional synthetic cyanocobalamin.

  • Vitamin D Injections

Vitamin D injections offer benefits like enhanced bone health (via calcium absorption), stronger immunity, boosted mood, increased energy, and potential support for weight management.

  • GHK-Cu

GHK-Cu (Glycyl-L-Histidyl-L-Lysine Copper) offers significant benefits for skin rejuvenation, wound healing, and hair health by stimulating collagen/elastin, reducing inflammation, providing antioxidants, and activating cellular repair genes, leading to firmer skin, reduced wrinkles, faster healing, and thicker hair. It works at a cellular level to improve tissue regeneration and combat signs of aging and damage.

    Skin & Anti-Aging Benefits

    Hair Health Benefits

Promotes Thicker Hair Growth: Increases hair follicle size and improves blood flow.

Strengthens Hair Fibers: Makes hair feel stronger and less brittle.

    How it Works

Gene Modulation: Activates "repair" genes and suppresses those linked to aging and breakdown, essentially resetting cells to a healthier state.

Copper's Role: The copper (Cu) is crucial, acting as a cofactor for enzymes that stabilize new collagen, preventing weak, degraded fibers

  • Thymosin Alpha 1

Thymosin alpha 1 (Tα1) has been studied for its effects on several types of cancer, including melanoma, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and breast cancer. It targets these cancers by enhancing the immune system, inhibiting cell growth, inducing apoptosis (programmed cell death), and potentially counteracting the immunosuppressive effects of treatments like chemotherapy and radiation.

Cancers targeted by thymosin alpha 1

Melanoma: Studies have shown that Tα1 can enhance the immune response against melanoma. Combining it with treatments like CTLA-4 inhibitors or dacarbazine has shown promising results, improving survival rates compared to the inhibitor or dacarbazine alone, respectively.

Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC): Tα1 has been investigated for its ability to inhibit tumor growth and migration in NSCLC. It is also used to help prevent opportunistic infections and counteract the immunosuppressive side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy in lung cancer patients.

Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC): Research on has explored the use of Tα1 for HCC, focusing on its potential to improve immune function and combat the disease. It has been studied in combination with other therapies to improve patient outcomes.

Breast Cancer: Tα1 has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of breast cancer cells and induce apoptosis.

Other Cancers: Tα1 has also been studied in other cancers, such as prostate cancer, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, and gastric carcinoma.

    Mechanisms of action

Immune system enhancement: Tα1 is an immunostimulant that boosts the body's immune response to fight cancer.

Inhibition of cell proliferation: It can directly inhibit the growth of cancer cells.

Counteracting immunosuppression: It helps to counteract the immunosuppressive effects of cancer treatments like chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Anti-aging & Longevity

  • Anti-Aging Peptides

FOXO4-DRI is a senolytic peptide designed to eliminate senescent cells, also known as "zombie cells," which contribute to age-related diseases and decline. By blocking the interaction between the FOXO4 and p53 proteins, it causes damaged senescent cells to undergo apoptosis, a programmed cell death. Research shows that FOXO4-DRI can alleviate age-related conditions like decreased testosterone production and keloids, although it is still in early stages of development and primarily used in animal models and cell cultures.

  • How FOXO4-DRI Works

FOX04-DRI (Retro-Inverso) is a synthetic, slightly modified version of the standard FOXO4 protein. The modification prolongs half-life of the protein and allows it to interfere with normal FOXO4 function. FOXO4-DRI has been shown in research to prevent normal FOXO4 binding to p53, thereby allowing for elimination of senescent cells, improved organ function, and younger tissue “biological age.” FOXO4-DRI impacts insulin signaling, cell cycle regulation, and oxidative stress signaling pathways. FOXO4-DRI is a cell penetrating peptide shown to selectively induce apoptosis of senescent cells thereby reversing effects of aging in animal studies.

    Targets Senescent Cells:

FOXO4-DRI is a cell-permeable peptide that specifically targets senescent cells.

    Blocks FOXO4 and p53 Interaction:

It functions by disrupting the interaction between the FOXO4 protein and the p53 protein.

    Induces Apoptosis:

This disruption causes active p53 to be excluded from the nucleus and sent to the mitochondria, where it triggers apoptosis (programmed cell death) in the senescent cell.

  • Potential Applications and Research

Aging and Testosterone Insufficiency:  Studies in aged mice have shown FOXO4-DRI can eliminate senescent Leydig cells (which produce testosterone), alleviating age-related testosterone insufficiency.

Keloids:  It has been shown to induce apoptosis in senescent fibroblasts in keloid models, a chronic inflammatory disease.

Cartilage Injuries: FOXO4-DRI can remove senescent chondrocytes from in vitro expanded cultures, improving their potential to form high-quality cartilage for procedures like autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI).

Chemotherapy-Induced Senescence:  It has shown promise in neutralizing the cellular damage and functional loss caused by chemotherapy drugs in animal models.

Sexual Health Peptides

  • Sexual Health Peptide Offerings

PT-141 (Bremelanotide) benefits primarily focus on boosting sexual desire, arousal, and satisfaction for both men and women by acting on brain receptors, offering a non-invasive way to treat low libido, and potentially improving erectile dysfunction, with effects occurring relatively quickly and lasting for a significant period, though it's FDA-approved for premenopausal women with Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD).

Oxytocin, the "love hormone," offers benefits in reproduction (childbirth, breastfeeding), stress reduction (lowers cortisol, anxiety), social bonding (trust, empathy, connection), and overall well-being (improved mood, pain relief, immune support). It promotes calm, strengthens relationships, aids in maternal care, and can even influence appetite, acting as a stress-coping molecule in both positive social settings and perceived threats, making us feel safer and more connected.  It has been a recent area of heavy research in Autistic children.

Melanotan II (MT-II) although usually focused on tanning, MT-II activates melanocortin receptors (especially MC3 and MC4) in the brain, which are involved in sexual desire (libido), arousal pathways, and erectile response (central, not vascular). This makes it different from Melanotan I and more effective for sexual health uses.

  • Natural Behavioral Modifications

Sexual counselors/couples counselors do exist!  Online companies can be easily accessed and speaking with a seasoned counselor on the subject is just a nice way to get some of those unspoken concerns out in the open.   There are many reputable companies out there and you hopefully won’t get stuck with Barbra Streisand from ‘meet the fockers’.  BetterHelp, OurRitual, Regain are a few reputable companies to name a few, and most except insurances.  There are also some local options that patients have used over the years with good results, feel free to bring up the subject on our next visit.

  • Notes

Not all of these treatments have been FDA approved, so we need to go in to this with eyes wide open. Doing our due diligence for research, and getting them prescribed through a reputable source after we feel comfortable with the course.  They are currently being studied, but they have been Widely used for a number of years both here in America, and other countries making us feel comfortable and using the local peptide compounds available to us.

Most of these compounds above, fall in the price range of $60 to $160 depending on the amounts and combination. I always love the idea of having a conversation, me preparing the compound for you, and you take it home in a temperature controlled pouch, to be administered daily. (After some training here in the office.)

These are very pliable compounds which means they can be used in a variety of situations. Not just after a surgery or chemotherapies. They can be used for any pain, inflammation or condition that may include cell breakdown or destruction.

Arthritis Peptides

  • ARA 290

ARA 290 is a peptide that has shown promising potential as a treatment for arthritis. It works by activating the erythropoietin (EPO) receptor, which is involved in reducing inflammation and promoting tissue repair.

Studies have shown that ARA 290 can help reduce pain, inflammation, and joint damage in animal models of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. In one study, ARA 290 was shown to reduce inflammation and improve mobility in rats with arthritis. Another study found that ARA 290 can promote the regeneration of cartilage tissue in vitro.

The mechanism by which ARA 290 exerts its effects on arthritis is thought to be through its ability to reduce the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β). In addition, ARA 290 has been shown to promote tissue repair by increasing the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines and growth factors, such as interleukin-10 (IL-10) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF).

  • Thymosin Alpha-1

Thymosin alpha-1 is a synthetic peptide that is derived from the thymus gland. It has been shown to have a wide range of biological effects, including immune modulation and tissue repair, which make it a potential candidate for the treatment of arthritis.

Studies have shown that thymosin alpha-1 can help reduce inflammation and joint damage in animal models of arthritis. In one study, thymosin alpha-1 was shown to decrease the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), in rats with rheumatoid arthritis. Another study found that thymosin alpha-1 can promote the regeneration of cartilage tissue in vitro.

Furthermore, thymosin alpha-1 has been shown to have a positive effect on the immune system, by increasing the number and function of T-cells and stimulating the production of other immune cells. This can help to reduce inflammation and promote tissue repair.

  • AOD-9604

AOD-9604 is a synthetic peptide that is derived from human growth hormone (HGH). It has been shown to have potential therapeutic effects on a range of conditions, including arthritis

Studies have shown that AOD-9604 can help reduce inflammation and joint damage in animal models of arthritis. In one study, AOD-9604 was shown to decrease the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), in rats with rheumatoid arthritis. Another study found that AOD-9604 can promote the regeneration of cartilage tissue in vitro.

In addition to its anti-inflammatory effects, AOD-9604 has been shown to have a positive effect on the metabolism of cartilage tissue. It has been shown to stimulate the production of type II collagen, which is a key component of cartilage tissue, and to inhibit the production of enzymes that can break down cartilage.
